E3 has thus far been a dumpster fire of early leaks, underwhelming announcements, and complete misfires. With that being said, Nintendo can carry the whole conference on its back with a strong showing. This cannot be your standard fare, here. No…Nintendo must bring the big guns. Here are 6 things we want to see at this year’s 2019 E3 Nintendo Direct.

Steve’s Picks

Animal Crossing on Switch MUST BE SHOWED

You better be there…

Look…the rabid fan base can only wait so long. I am not even interested in Animal Crossing, but if the fans don’t get some news soon they may riot. We are already under the impression this game is out this year. Pokemon had its moment recently, so it only makes sense for Animal Crossing to take a chunk of time during the direct. Coming out swinging with Animal Crossing on Switch would be a great way to say “hey we mean business and we matter, too”.

Octopath Traveler 2

I should really play this game…

Okay so maybe I have not even started Octopath Traveler…BUT that doesn’t change the fact that it was a pretty huge hit for Square Enix and Nintendo. There is a chance that something like this would get revealed at the Square Enix conference, but either way, it would rock all hell if part II was announced. With the release on PC recently, this would be a good way to draw attention to the series as well.

Metroid Prime Trilogy on Switch

Man…how many times have we all thought this was a forgone conclusion? Answer: too many times. With Metroid Prime 4 still a ways out, this fall would be a great time to remind people how great that series is. The trilogy with joycon support would go a long way to remind the masses. Also…I don’t think I played 2 or 3 so…yea…I would love going through them on my Switch.

Andy’s Picks

I am looking for a little bit more from Nintendo in the way of Smash bros, and really want a good solid surprise. Here is what I am hoping for.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC Fighters

Gimmie more…

Now we can go on and on about which fighters are going to fill those four remaining coveted spots, but one thing is certain: too much time has passed without so much as a tease about who the next DLC fighter is going to be. At this point I’m not even sure if I care who it’s going to be – just announce it already!

A Proper Visit Into Town

The more I see the more I want…

While Pokemon Sword & Shield is all the rage these days, I’m more intrigued by Gamefreak’s other game. Town was shown very briefly but we have yet to get a proper deep dive into what the game really is. Now that we’ve taken a closer look at the next big Pokemon title courtesy of Nintendo’s last direct, its time to pull back the curtain on this mysterious title.

A Retro Remake/Sequel

Bluepoint…the Masters of the Re-Masters/Remake…

Listen, Nintendo. When it comes to a gaming library, you are very much unrivaled in terms of greatest hits. So for the love of all that is holy, pick one, ANYONE, and just bring it back. Whether its Kid Icarus, Punch-Out, Wario Land, Startropics, Pilotwings, Excitebike, or any other of the myriad of franchises you have forgotten about, just pick one and bring it back into the fold.

So there…we did a “what we want” article. If you like reading our stupid opinions, you would LOVE hearing them. Check out our UN-Predictions show for e3 2019 here. Tell us what YOU want to see in the Nintendo Direct for E3 2019 in the comments or tweet at us @ndspodcast.
