After what’s felt like a nonstop wave of studio closures and layoffs clogging up the headlines lately, it’s refreshing as heck to finally report some good news: Tango Gameworks is back in business. Yes, that Tango Gameworks. The ultra-talented crew behind Hi-Fi RUSH has officially reopened its Tokyo office doors following their acquisition by KRAFTON last August, and they’re already cooking up something new.
The studio shared the news with a joyful update today, writing:
“It took us some time, but the official office for Tango Gameworks, Inc. is open, and our hybrid work environment finally has its in-office counterpart! … Our office in Tokyo is back open as we fill it with our memorabilia from our projects and begin decorating based on our new brand identity!”
From Senior Animators and Level Designers to Graphics Programmers and VFX artists, Tango is building up a fresh team for what they’re describing as an unannounced action game. Listings mention Unreal Engine and platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
As someone who absolutely loved Hi-Fi RUSH, The Evil Within, and Ghostwire: Tokyo, seeing Tango Gameworks shut down was soul-crushing. These devs brought so much style, creativity, and bold energy to everything they touched. So yeah, seeing them rise from the ashes and get another shot? That’s more than just good news. That’s something to root for. Whatever they’re cooking up next, I’m all in.
