2019 was considered a “down year” by most, but that does not mean 2019 did not have its share of incredible games. But what is the game of the year? We here at Duel Screens will be making the case for various titles for your consideration.

For Your Consideration – The Outer Worlds

The Outer Worlds is by far the most worthy for the title of Game of the Year. From the fast-paced and skill-based combat to the robust offerings to customize your character, the choices you make will always have weight and directly influence your gameplay experience. The Outer Worlds shows you the power of a gripping, player-driven narrative. This will only evolve in unique ways as you progress, giving you special solutions and dialogue options based upon your skill stats. Your character may start as a jack of all trades type but will become much more nuanced throughout the game, which is also a gripping experience.

This is to say nothing of the great narrative. The power of it is in the flexibility of many situations you will come across. The amount of storylines and resolutions that they yield is staggering and impactful. It is also amazing how well the narrative fits it all in so that it always stays engaging and never overwhelming. Part of this is the more streamlined exploration, with each planet being its own focused area and bringing the sandbox element to the galaxy at large. The feel, the aesthetic and the narrative charm go hand in hand with the gameplay to create a role-playing experience that feels authentic for todays gamer. Whatever your style may be, you’ll likely find it in The Outer Worlds.

That is why The Outer Worlds…is Game of the Year 2019.

What do you think? Is Apex Legends your Game of the Year? Love it? Hate it? Drop a comment below!
