Joining The Duel Screens Podcast this week is Aaron Stavely, Production Manager over at Mane6 – developer of the indie fighting game sensation Them’s Fightin’ Herds.

Aside from discussing the My Little Pony-inspired fighting game – and its remarkable rebirth following a cease and desist order from Hasbro – the conversation moved towards the fighting game genre in general. From teaching its players the actual core mechanics of fighting games to implementing a better lobby system, Them’s Fightin’ Herds has done more to move the genre forward than the heavy hitters of the fighting game scene:

“We’ve chosen to focus on the [tutorial] experience for our players and while it may seem like it’s a non-brainer, I think I understand why larger companies don’t necessarily focus on it.”
