A Tiny Sticker Tale is an adorable exploration game developed and self-published by Ogre Pixel (creators of Lonesome Village). As our resident cozy gamer here at Duel Screens, I am happy to say that this adorable adventure is unlike any I have played before. From the wholesome storyline, ease of play with this new mechanic, to the interesting furniture creation method, I really cannot recommend it enough. I would score it as a definite buy.

This short story follows a young donkey named Flynn as he explores the world around him and learns his virtues. You will help him solve puzzles and collect items to assist other villagers. These villagers each have their own little stories that will need your assistance to come to completion. I finished the main storyline in tears, but there are other side stories I would like to go back to complete as well. I imagine that reuniting the two brothers will just be absolutely precious.

Throughout the story Flynn will need to use his sticker book. This is such a cute and unique mechanic. I don’t think I’ve ever played a game that has used something like this. Essentially what happens is you use your environment as stickers. This could be anything from the sun in the sky to the critters in the area. You’ll occasionally need to pick them up and add them to your sticker book so that you can move them to another location. You might need to bring the bridge with you so that you can cross a river or maybe you just need to help the little ole lamb reach a spot she can’t normally get to on her own anymore. This also brings in a great deal of item management, because you can’t grab everything like you want to since space is limited.

After the carpenter gets his saw back, he will let you know that you can bring him trees to cut and turn into furniture. Trying to fit an entire tree into your sticker book takes some work, but once you have it you can bring it to him and set it on the platform. Within a few moments you will receive a piece of furniture for your home tent. Getting to discover the different types of furniture made from the different trees was like its own separate collecting game. It also helped me discover that the entire map was customizable. The furniture doesn’t have to be used in your tent. You can use it anywhere. Almost every item on the map can be moved. Meaning my map could end up looking completely different from yours. The personalization is unmatched.

This was such a delightful surprise. The story was cute and able to be played in a single sitting. The controls were simple and easy to get the hang of. As if I wasn’t enjoying it enough, Ogre Pixel also gave us the ability to personalize the whole map and create furniture for our homes. They really knocked it out of the park with A Tiny Sticker Tale.
