Pocket Quest is an adorable mobile auto-battler with aspirations of expanding onto Steam in the near future. The core concept revolves around assembling a party within a fantasy setting, utilizing available resources to compete against parties uploaded by other players.

Matches unfold swiftly, as the gameplay adopts an auto-battler format where players observe their teams engage in combat. Victory is determined by the better organized and equipped team. Regardless of the outcome, you are returned to the character recruit screen where you can replenish you party by recruiting new fighters or creatures, upgrading existing units, or employing both strategies if resources permit. In case you are dissatisfied with the available selection, you are granted a few complimentary shuffles, after which additional shuffles require the same resources used for recruitment. Once you are satisfied with your party composition, you can confidently sally forth back onto the battlefield.

The game boasts a diverse array of characters, each endowed with unique abilities. From stalwart knights to cunning assassins, and from powerful magic casters to fearsome monsters, there’s a character to suit every strategy. Players strategically position their units across three rows—front, middle, and back—each serving different tactical purposes. While some units are restricted to specific areas, others offer flexibility in placement. Understanding the synergies between different characters is crucial for assembling a formidable team capable of overcoming higher-level opponents.

Recruitment of new units relies on in-game currency earned through gameplay. It’s worth noting that the game developers have emphasized a commitment to fairness, assuring players that Pocket Quest is free from pay-to-win mechanics and intrusive battle passes. This approach ensures that the game caters to both casual players looking for brief entertainment and competitive players striving to optimize their strategies and build the best meta team possible.

Pocket Quest is a delightful game to indulge in during spare moments, offering a blend of strategic depth and accessibility. It was a fun little gem of a game that I can see myself sinking a ridiculous amount of time into once it releases on Steam.
