IRON MEAT

If there’s one thing I love about Iron Meat, it’s the way it transports me back to a simpler time, specifically, the early ’90s when my brother and I were glued to run-and-gun shooters like Contra and Super C. Those nights spent blasting our way through pixelated enemies remain some of my fondest gaming memories, and Iron Meat captures that spirit perfectly.

Set in an apocalyptic future overrun by “The Meat,” an iron-hungry mass that mutates everything in its path, Iron Meat immerses players in a world where every level is packed with intense action and challenges. The gameplay is classic run-and-gun at its finest, featuring one-hit deaths and an arsenal of fun weapons. Whether you’re swapping between laser pistols, grenades, or a triple-shot pulse rifle, the excitement never wanes. The incredible soundtrack adds to the adrenaline rush, making every moment feel exhilarating.

The attention to detail in the art style is flawless, and the game nails that retro aesthetic while delivering fast-paced action that’s both challenging and addictive. Prepare for intense boss battles that come in multiple phases, providing plenty of opportunities to test your skills. And with three difficulty settings, you can really push yourself for an even tougher experience against those gory bosses.

Iron Meat is a heartfelt homage to the run-and-gun titles of yesteryear. It perfectly balances nostalgia with modern mechanics, making it a must-play for anyone who loves old-school arcade shooters. If you enjoy a good challenge wrapped in pixelated carnage, you won’t want to miss out on this one.

MIGHTY MORPHIN POWERRANGERS: RITA’S REWIND

IT’S MORPHIN TIME!

When my brother and I weren’t busy diving into Castlevania and Mega Man games, we spent our days at the local arcade, battling through multiplayer classics like The Simpsons, TMNT: Arcade Game, and X-Men. Now, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind brings all that nostalgic fun rushing back, reigniting memories of my favorite junior high school show with its pixel-perfect portrayal of our childhood heroes.

In this action-packed side-scrolling beat ’em up, the Power Rangers are back in Angel Grove to face off against a robotic reincarnation of their long-time nemesis, Robo Rita. With a clever twist, Robo Rita conjures a portal to team up with her younger self to finally eliminate the Power Rangers. The game expertly captures the look and feel of the classic 90s series, featuring hand-drawn pixel art that will thrill fans of the original show.

Rita’s Rewind is packed with fan-favorite enemies from various seasons, cleverly remixing iconic events and episodes to create a playable experience that feels both familiar and fresh. The gameplay delivers classic 2D brawler action, enriched with arcade-style shooting sequences and thrilling vehicle segments. You’ll also have the chance to pilot all of the original Dinozords and even jump into the cockpit of the legendary Megazord to take down towering bosses!

This title embodies what classic retro IPs like this are all about, much like how Shredder’s Revenge and Streets of Rage 4 revitalized the beat ’em up genre. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind is a joyful ride down memory lane that fans of the series and newcomers alike won’t want to miss.
