Joining us this week is Denis Sinner, Creator of Monster Sanctuary – a Monster taming meets Metroidvania pixelated adventure – out now for Steam, consoles and is included with GamePass Ultimate.

Denis spoke a lot about how his passion project turned into a Kickstarter success story, and how partnering with indie-game publisher Team17 allowed him to expand beyond being a one-man development team. What was most interesting about our conversation though was how mainstream monster taming games like Pokemon have sacrificed strategy, challenge and innovation, for simplicity and to make their games as accessible as possible to a young audience.

From our discussion, it sounds like Nintendo certainly has a lot to learn from the indie monster taming scene. If a game is too easy, can it be fun?
