As I’m sitting here, writing pieces on the PS5 reveal and reaching out to developers for interviews, I suddenly remembered a bit of news from the other day. Evidently, Antony Johnston – the writer of Dead Space, Binary Domain, and others – recently tweeted that he had been ‘working on a big video game for almost two years‘ and ‘in totally unrelated news, you should all watch the PS5 launch event on Thursday‘ hinting that his latest project would be revealed during today’s livestream. While I knew in my heart of hearts that this could never be a new Dead Space – no matter how many fans jumped to that conclusion – I was still curious to the possibilities of what Antony was referring to.

As the show came to end I realized that there were a number of new IPs on display, and any one of these could have been a title that Johnston was working on. So I decided to do a bit of Google-ing and turned up with nothing but headlines referring to the aforementioned tweet. So I pressed on and went to Johnston’s Twitter page to see any mention of a video game he was working on. Not only did I not find anything, I also realized that Johnston had gone back and deleted the original tweet in question. A tweet that had garnered him so much attention and generated such mass speculation was now gone.

Was something cut from the PS5 reveal livestream? Was Johnston trolling us all along and perhaps it really was ‘unrelated news‘ as he put it? I wonder.
